>'so, urlmeshi why does this site exist?'

I am not a 'twitter/social media is bad!' person by any means. I would even argue social media has changed my life for the better overall. Its not just the endless learning - the connections I've built and maintained with friends all over the world throughout the years amazes me. I treasure the human connection we have through technology. I think its a huge disservice to what I've learned and who I've meant to write it off as 'social media bad' with no discernment. BUT! Its getting hard to ignore the big issues with social media in the 2020s. I don't feel encouraged to learn anymore (well, I used to but I have wrestled my algorithms like an alligator). It feels like regardless of the social media platform at its core they either want you arguing or buying something. Preferably both. I don't want to be annoyed and/or advertised to ALL DAY LONG. I want to learn and share what I've learned with people who want to see it or care to listen. Thus, urlmeshi was born*ੈ✩. now changed to infernalmodem 7/15/24 I want this to be a more tangible archive of things that I'm interested in and care about like reading lists, essays and opinions on stuff, my favorite episodes of things, or just silly shit. I hope this is a place where people can have fun and get away from the constant fighting and advertisements.

I'm a native english speaker but irdgaf about grammar and I can't see spelling mistakes when I'm writing in code so... ignore them! and enjoy your scroll. This is to share with others but is ultimately for me and not for external validation. Take whatever knowledge or fun you want from this and leave whatever doesn't serve you.

this page is styled this way on purpose to remind me of how far I've come with my html knowlege! this is just me typing into the neocities base code.
